Douro Valley Private Tour
Discover the Douro Valley, a region that is bathed by the Douro River and is part of the so-called Douro Wine Region. Located in the North of Portugal and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, it is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world (1756) and where the famous Port and Douro wines are produced.
The Douro Valley could easily be called the enchanted valley, such is the beauty and magic that radiates from its landscapes. Terraced vineyards that go up and down the hills on either side of the river are responsible for the breathtaking landscape of the region. Portugal is a country full of natural beauty, but the Douro Valley is considered one of the country's “crown jewels”.
Enjoy a customized private tour (just you and our driver/guide) in the Douro Valley with tasty local food, wine and products from the region such as Olive Oil, Honey, Almond, Olive and Cheese... Have a typical lunch in a famous family-owned wineries carefully chosen place and suited to your tastes... Take a "Rabelo" boat cruise in the heart of the Douro Valley on a traditional boat used for centuries to transport Port wine… Visit a charming winery, stroll in the vineyards and taste Port Wines… The transportation is in a comfortable and premium Mercedes E class.
Departure from the Hotel towards Amarante, here we will visit the Church of S.Gonçalo and the Romanesque Bridge with a panoramic view over the River and at the end of the visit be sure to taste the region's traditional convent sweets;
Departure towards Régua, passing through the Pier and the Bagaúste Dam;
Then visit the village of Pinhão, here you will visit the train station, a local producer of products from the region such as Olive Oil, Honey, Almond, Olive and Cheese (upon prior notice at the time of booking) and take a 1 hour mini cruise on the Douro River in a typical boat (Rabelos boats) where you can enjoy a unique and wonderful landscape;
Free time for lunch.
Finally, we will visit one of the most famous Port wine estates with a Visit and Wine Tasting.
